Are Bria and Photomop even the same kind of product?

No, and it is worth saying so before anything else. Bria sells an API, an SDK, an MCP interface, an iFrame embed and a Figma plugin. It is bought by engineering and product teams who are putting generative imaging inside their own software. There is no consumer editor to open with a photo on your desktop, because that is not what it is for.

Photomop is the opposite shape. It is a set of tools a person opens in a tab and uses directly, on their own hardware, with no account as things stand today. If you searched for these two together you probably wanted to know which one your problem belongs to. In almost every case the answer is obvious once the question is framed that way.

This is Bria's real differentiator and it deserves to be stated plainly rather than glossed over. Bria's models are trained on data the company holds rights to, with named partners including Getty Images, Envato and Alamy. For a business that has to answer questions about provenance, that changes the risk profile of shipping generated imagery in a way no output quality comparison can.

It goes further than a claim. Bria attaches IP indemnification to its plans, capped on pay-as-you-go and unlimited on Enterprise, alongside copyrightability reports and full data attribution per image. If your legal team has ever asked where a generated image came from, that is the question Bria is built to answer, and very few platforms in this market try.

How does Bria's pricing compare to a subscription?

Bria does not sell a monthly subscription at all. The Free plan gives 100 generations in total with full API, MCP, Skills and SDK access to all models, Figma and DCC integrations, cloud-only deployment and 10 requests a minute. Pay-as-you-go removes the cap entirely for $0.018 a generation upwards, with 60 requests a minute and capped standard indemnification.

Where does each one process your images?

Bria runs in the cloud, on AWS or Azure, and Enterprise customers can additionally deploy on-premises or into their own cloud with air-gapped options. That last part matters: an enterprise that cannot send data to a third party has a route here, which is more than most generative platforms offer. On the standard plans, though, your image goes to Bria's infrastructure.

Photomop runs on your own device inside the tab, with models cached locally, so nothing is uploaded on any plan. That is a stronger default, but it is also a much smaller product. Photomop has no hosted API today and cannot be called from a server, which rules it out of every workflow Bria was designed to serve.

Which one is right for your situation?

If you are writing code that needs to generate or edit images at volume, inside a product other people will pay for, and somebody in your organisation will eventually ask about training data provenance, Bria is the serious answer and Photomop cannot help you. There is no version of that requirement where a set of on-device tools is the correct purchase.
